Section B – Rates of Interest & Approach for Gradation of Risk

Principles for Determining Rate of Interest

  • Factors considered: cost of funds, tenor cost, market liquidity, RBI policies, competition, customer profile, repayment history, collateral value, etc.
  • Management may adjust rates depending on group strength, schemes, subventions, subsidies, or future potential business.
  • Rates may differ for same product/tenor across customers based on above factors.
  • Competitor practices are also considered when deciding charges.

Rate of Interest

  • Rates offered on fixed or floating basis.
  • Floating rates reset periodically (monthly/bi-monthly/quarterly).
  • Annualised rate disclosed to customer.
  • Reset period decided by cKers from time to time.
  • Interest charged on monthly or longer rests (product-specific).
  • EMI break-up (principal vs interest) provided at sanction.
  • No grace period unless explicitly mentioned in sanction letter.
  • Interest changes are prospective; customers informed appropriately.
  • For staggered disbursements, rates may vary at each tranche as per prevailing rate.
